Frequently Asked Questions
Pregnancy Counseling Services
Who can use pregnancy support services?
Whether you are single, married or in a relationship, if you are facing an unplanned pregnancy, you are eligible for these services.
What is the purpose of pregnancy support?
We believe that every child has the right to be born into a family that offers love, security and nurturing. By supporting you
and your extended family throughout an unplanned pregnancy, we can help you create an environment that is less stressful and more welcoming for your baby and for you.
How does D.A. Blodgett help me and my unborn child?
The first step is to begin talking about the situation and addressing the emotional issues that surround an unplanned pregnancy. Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who can give you new insights as you explore your options.
Will you come to my home?
Yes! We offer this counseling at our agency, or we will come to your home.
What is the counseling about?
It is really about helping you create an atmosphere where you feel secure and supported throughout your pregnancy and where your baby can thrive physically and emotionally. Confidential counseling is for you, the birth father and all your family members as you choose. It can cover everything from birth father rights, emotional issues, finances, school policies, to personal expectations and fears, birthing and so much more.
Will the counselor pressure me to make an adoption plan?
Not at all. In fact, most Pregnancy Support Services clients choose to raise their infants themselves. But, we do recommend you take a look at choices as there are many new ways to create an adoption plan that you might not know about.
What happens once my baby
is born?
If you decide on adoption, D.A. Blodgett for Children will help link your two families together in a meaningful process that can include selecting and
meeting your adoptive family, working out home visits and preparing family members and siblings for the news. If you decide to raise your baby yourself, we’ll provide help with housing referrals, medical services, help you secure furniture, cribs and car seats and match you with a Sisters in Support volunteer. Either way, your counseling may also continue for as long as you feel you need it.
How much do Pregnancy Support Services cost?
These services are free, because we want the best for you and your baby.
