Family Support Services Program
Description of Program
The Family Support Services program provides services to families of children under the age of 18 with a developmental disability, in Kent County. Support Coordinators respond to the expressed needs and desires of the family and provide concrete assistance in coordinating a family support system and resources. These services are primarily provided within the home and in the community and include providing a 24-hour per day crisis response.
Services Offered
Supports Coordination – Professional support service staff work in an environment convenient to the child and family to assist with linking, monitoring, and coordinating services.
Respite services provide temporary assistance to the unpaid primary caregiver in order to support the ability of the individual to live in his/her natural community home.
Enhanced Health Care services are available to those that are authorized for supports coordination services including, but not limited to psychiatric services and medication reviews.
Family Support Subsidy – Provides approximately $200.00 per month in financial assistance to families who have a child with an eligibility category of:
- Cognitive impairment
- Severe multiple impairment
- Autism spectrum disorder

Families seeking Children’s Supports Coordination services may access these services by contacting DA Blodgett for Children directly at (616) 451-2021 to schedule an in person clinical assessment. Network 180 will determine authorization of services based on the assessed need at intake.
