Foster Care

Children of all ages, races, and backgrounds in Kent County are placed in foster care with our agency. We are assigned children by the Child Protective Services Division of the Family Independence Agency due to their parents' neglect and/or abuse. Some of these children are young and relatively problem-free, while others are older and experiencing emotional and behavioral problems.

Foster CareOur first goal is to provide counseling and support services to the biological parents to help them overcome their problems so they can provide better care for their children. When our rehabilitation efforts with the parents are not successful, the children become permanent wards of the Family Court and are placed in adoptive homes by our adoption staff. Please call (616) 451-2021 and ask to speak to someone in Foster Care for more information.
