Parent Therapist Program
The Parent Therapist Program began in 1979 as a family based treatment program for emotionally impaired adolescents. The program began with five experienced foster parent couples who were extensively trained as treatment-oriented foster parents.
Throughout the past two decades, the program steadily grew to include more than 80 trained couples, serving emotionally impaired children ranging in age from 5 to 18. The referral network has likewise expanded to include children from all over the State of Michigan from various public and private funding sources.
Many children are placed with us after failing in previous community placements and in lieu of entering institutional settings. Others are referred to us by public and private psychiatric hospitals and residential treatment centers for follow-up treatment. |
